Abstract
Kidlington in 1939 was a very different place to today's large urban community. It was a rural village with ten farms, local corner shops, two schools and two churches serving a population of about 4500 people. With the outbreak of war, thousands of children were evacuated to areas of the country considered safe from the bombing. Girls from East Ham Grammar School came to Kidlington. They share their stories in this booklet.
