Abstract

There are two good reasons for finding out about the story of Oxford in the Engliah Civil War. Firstly, Oxford played a very important part in this war. In 1642 the King made Oxford his headquesters and spent most of his time there. Secondly, the experiences of the ordinary people of Oxford were similar to those in the rest of the country.
