Abstract
This book is a by-product and continuation of the work on Cuxham that was published in 1965 as 'A medieval Oxfordshire village'. The manor of Cuxham has belonged to Merton College, Oxford, since 1271. Printed here are as many as possible of the surviving records that throw light on the life and economy of Cuxham before 1359. These are housed at Merton College, and include mostly lists of tenants, court rolls and records of account arising from the running of the property between 1271 and 1359. These records contain really detailed information about the village and its inhabitants.

There are relatively few manors for which medieval records survive in such number and variety as for Cuxham, and they are in effect the records of an entire village community. The volumemay thus serve as a source book for the study of a specimen medieval village of the English midlands.
