Abstract

The past is still present in Banbury, as can be seen in this book. Almost all the photographs date from the late 19th and early 20th century and have been selected so that an interested reader can use them as a guide to the town today, from the approach down the Oxford Road into South Bar, along the High Street, into the Market Square and out into Grimsbury. Other parts illustrate the way of life at that time and the section on transport highlights Banbury as an important railway junction during the early days of steam.
